This year France was crowned World Cup champion after beating Crotia 4-2 in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium in 90 minutes of thrilling football (soccer). It all started with 32 teams from all over the world competing for the gold. During the final game 10.4 million people tuned in to watch France beat Croatia on their TVs, computers, iPhones and iPads. That’s the power of cable and streaming media. The diversity of the players in these games is quite remarkable. Their diversity and hard work is what got all of them to the World Cup games.
Stephen Covey, American author and keynote speaker who wrote the best-selling book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, once said, “Strength lies in differences, not in similarities.”
At IST, we are already a very diverse organization, and we are uniquely different in the variety of services that we provide. Forty-six percent of our employee population are female, and our age brackets cross three generations. Sixty-three percent of our employee population are non-white. It is this diverse population across multiple types of groups that adds tremendous strength and breadth to the IST mix.
However, diversity is more than just looking at factors such as age, gender and race. When we look at other differentiators such as personality, work history, education, foreign language, and unique certifications such as Relativity Certified Sales Professional, it brings additional elements into the whole discussion of diversity.
At IST, we are proud of building a great company where our service offerings are as diverse as our employee population. We started out as a facilities management company 22 years ago. Today, we have morphed into a business process outsourcing company that includes office & facilities management services, e-Discovery & litigation support services, court reporting and collection services.
Over the next 30 years we will morph into a billion dollar company and there will be tons of opportunities for all of us. Between the FM and e-Discovery sales team, we currently have 37 people selling for IST, and that does not even count our project and operation managers. Can you imagine if we had 300 sales people selling for IST? Over the next 30 years, that number will become real. My vision is to hire talented and diverse individuals who want to put their stamp on the IST growth wave. This growth will be done organically and not through buying companies!
