IST’s Andrew Addison, Vice President of Technical Solutions, manages our on-site and off-site development team for the creation of new software, as well as maintaining IT Support (our team who supports the field) and all our technologies. Andrew is a long-time team member here at IST and is clearly woven into the fabric of our establishment. Having been with IST in the early years and helping to continuously evolve our processes and procedures, we are excited to have had the opportunity to get to know Andrew and what drew him to his career at IST.
Andrew began his time here as a Service Specialist at the Check Free Corporation in May of 1999. He relocated from South Carolina where he was working three jobs just to pay the bills and wanted a ‘9 to 5’ job so Andrew answered an ad in a newspaper which catapulted him to where he is today. The biggest thing Andrew recalls when first started 20 years ago was that IST had a saying, “Learn to do your job well and once you get to that point, then learn your supervisors’ job.” Andrew made it a point to excel at his position as well as researching the work of supervisors, operations managers and regional managers.
Andrew believes that the biggest motivation here at IST is our focus on customer service. Hal Blackman, IST’s CEO and President, always says to work with a servant’s heart and Andrew truly takes that into consideration every step of the way. Today, the most gratifying part of Andrew’s job is when field employees suggest little changes to software that would hugely benefit them and being able to take these suggestions and turn them into solutions. Most of Andrew’s projects start from suggestions from on-site employees and operations team members.
IST sees first hand that in the world of technology we have to always work towards automating processes and coming up with better ways to get information to clients so they can make better business decisions. With the recent addition of some of IST’s newer platforms, we are able to offer what we call a “One Stop Shop” so clients can come to IST for facilities services as well as other software applications that are auxiliary to these. One product that Andrew is most excited to see is IST’s up and coming Space Planning. “It’s a little different than most the applications that IST has done in the facilities management world but as IST has received some great feedback from it, it is really going to put us ahead of our competition with offering more software applications,” Andrew says. With the new IST Space Planning software and the expansion into new areas such as IST Court Reporting, Andrew visualizes that our biggest opportunity is being a more well-rounded company providing the customer with the solutions that allow them to work smarter in their fields.
Andrew has seen technology evolve swiftly since staring his career with IST. He has seen IST Suite change 6 or 7 times and knows that it’s probably going to change again in the next 12 to 18 months. Technology is evolving exponentially and IST’s ability to do more automated processes and provide better data and feedback to our customers is going to be the key. We are thrilled that Andrew has been a part of our IST Family for 20 years and look forward to seeing his work in the coming years.
