I really enjoyed reading It’s Your Ship – Management Techniques from the Best Damn Ship in the Navy written by Captain Michael Abrashoff.
It came across as a good friend giving you advice on leadership skills learned through failures and successes. It did have one drawback in my opinion. The book seemed to bounce back and forth in between stories and I couldn’t really get a grasp on a timeline for the book. Maybe that was the point of the author. Still a very great read and impressive book.
It really imparted to me the value of humility and active listening skills. You may find a better more efficient way of completing a process that comes from a source other that your own knowledge base if you are willing to listen.
