What is Personal Branding?
Your personal brand is what makes you an individual; it’s how you stand out creating a name for yourself in your career. A personal brand is how an individual demonstrates their beliefs and qualities.
Social media tells a lot of stories and our personal brand is one of those. Personal branding is what an individual stands for. In this day and age, our personal brand determines a lot of our future. It is not just for entrepreneurs or business owners anymore, it is what makes you stand out for that new job or that promotion.
Your personal brand exists whether you want it to or not. It is visible if you use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Chrome, etc. If you are not defining your brand, then someone else probably will be doing it for you. It is defined around the content you post or what someone else posts about you. You allow people to create your brand when they tag you or mention you in a post on social media. This opens a door to allow people who don’t know you, make assumptions about you. Along with not defining yourself, you have a substantially higher risk of losing a client or being passed up for a promotion.
When it comes to creating a strong brand you will need to determine what unique qualities and strengths you bring to the table. Don’t hesitate to ask others if you are having a hard time determining these. Once you have this established, it’s then time to build on that. Become an expert. Read about it. Write on it and then share it on your social media platform. This is how you get discovered.
Throughout building your brand, be yourself. The point of building your own brand is to be unique and show your style. You are what attracts clients and jobs, and how you portray you is going to show your individuality. When it comes to sculpting your personal brand, remember what it is that makes you who you are. Keep your priorities and values at all times.
