Executive presence is the ability to influence others through a combination of writing, speaking, and presentation skills. The ability to identify employees with Executive Presence and then provide them with the training they need to be effective managers allows IST to continue to offer outstanding service to new and existing clients. IST employees with high Executive Presence on site allows for more effective communication and greater commitment to the client’s goals and objectives.
Having employees on hand who have demonstrated they possess Executive Presence and who have undergone the proper training gives IST Management Services a ready pool of management talent. This allows the organization to promote from within and avoid the time and expense of searching for external candidates.

At IST, we always want to make sure we are providing the strongest Site Managers in our centers. One of the ways that we evaluate potential Site Manager candidates is our Executive Presence testing program.
What is Executive Presence? At IST we describe it as, “One’s ability to inspire others through the combination of their appearance, charisma, poise, critical thinking, communication ability and interpersonal skills.”
All of our potential Site Managers are required to complete EP testing. The testing is done through an application in our IST Suite management software. This online testing allows for every IST employee to easily complete it and be evaluated. To complete the test, each employee is assigned a unique scenario. The scenarios are based on real-life instances.
The employee is then required to complete a written response as if he was the IST Site Manager emailing the customer. Then, the employee will record and upload a video response as if he was speaking face-to-face with the customer. The video responses are recording with a smart phone and uploaded directly from the phone to the Executive Presence program in IST Suite.
After completing the EP exam, IST’s HR Director will review the written and verbal responses and grade the employee on the quality of the response. The employee is graded on their sincerity, critical thinking, ingenuity, poise, grammar, etc. Then, the HR Director will call the employee and review the grade along with providing feedback and suggestions for improvement. Employees can watch training videos through IST Suite that teach them how to improve their EP.
